Objective

The Dental Assistant Diploma Program is designed to prepare students to assist in the organized delivery of dental services. The skills and knowledge presented will support the graduate in the pursuit of a career as an entry-level Dental Assistant. Those skills include fundamental chair-side and administrative skills along with infection control procedures.

In addition, students engage in "hands-on" training with regard to dental equipment, instruments, and tray set-ups. Students will cover dental health and laboratory procedures as well.

Upon completion of the Diploma Program, graduates are prepared to seek entry-level positions such as Chair-side Assistant, Front Office Appointment Coordinator, Hygiene Assistant, or Sterilization Assistant.

Classroom procedures

Each course stands alone as a unit of study and is not dependent upon prerequisite training. A student may enter the program at the beginning of any course and continue through the sequence until completion of all courses.

Externship

The externship is undertaken following the successful completion of all classroom training, and consists of 225 clock hours, averaging eight hours a day. This externship is unpaid.

Transfer of Credits

Credits earned at High-Tech Institute - Nashville may not transfer to another educational institution. Credits earned at another institution may not be accepted by High-Tech Institute - Nashville. You should obtain confirmation that High-Tech Institute - Nashville will accept any credits you have earned at another educational institution before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement.

You should also contact any educational institutions that you may want to transfer credits earned at High-Tech Institute - Nashville to determine if such institutions will accept credits earned at High-Tech Institute - Nashville prior to executing an enrollment contract or agreement.

The ability to transfer credits from High-Tech Institute - Nashville to another educational institution may be very limited. Your credits may not transfer and you may have to repeat courses previously taken at High-Tech Institute - Nashville if you enroll in another educational institution.
